  13. Perhaps this isn't a bug (unless the fact that
  14. I can't find anything that helps in the documentation
  15. could be considered a bug), but I can't get dvips to
  16. work for me, because it cannot find any fonts.

  18. The "pk" files are in /usr/local/lib/texmf/fonts/public/cm/pk
  19. with names like cmbx10.400pk, and I've set the environment
  20. variables DVIPSFONTS and PKFONTS pointing to every directory
  21. along that path, but all I can get is
  22.  
  23. dvips: Font cmbx10 not found, characters will be left blank.
  24.  
  25. The fontdir with which the program was built is the usual
  26. $(texmf)/fonts, with texmf set to /usr/local/lib/texmf.
  27.  
  28. Judging by the complexity of the kpathsea mechanism,
  29. there isn't any way I'm going to be able to figure this
  30. one out on my own in finite time.
